Clearly Blue Note Records is one of the undeniable kings of quintessential Jazz music. They became so because of their understanding of music evolution, and how it's important to embrace change, listen to the younger generations of musicians, and use that change to enhance an already good formula. The concept of remixes are nothing new, but it took a while before the Jazz labels like Blue Note embraced the idea. When they finally did, they made it count by choosing producers that know how to reinterpret already great Jazz without changing the meaning of the music.
On this EP, their emphasis is on the Latin sound, and Kenny Dope and Bugz in the Attic do just that. Nothing cheesy here, just Jazz, revised with class. Unlike the full LP version of 'Blue Note Revisited', this one contains the originals as well as the remixes so you can hear for yourself how they honored the artists they reinterpreted.
